Daddy Cinema

Last weekend we were going to go to the cinema, but decided the film that was on was a bit old for Krystal.  Instead James decided to play Daddy Cinema's.

Daddy Cinema1.jpg

They made tickets, set up a till to buy them, popcorn was made and they had cones to fill up.  They were shown to their seats in a dark living room by torchlight and watched one of their new DVD's (GForce)

I think it's fair to say I initially thought James had gone nuts, but the kids loved it!!

P.S. We also had a visit from some crocodiles, Kory had to push Krystal around in her boat to save their soft toys before they got eaten.  Right then!

When he was here, my Dad had the kids posing for photos lots.  So thought I'd pop some on as there's a few I love.  Firstly in the house...

When my Dad was up last week, he bought me a bunch of flowers.  After reading an article on taking shots in low like without a flash, I decided to try it out.  Here is the result....

On a site I use for my photos, this one made it to the "spotlight" page very quickly, so I'm rather impressed with it!

That's Owen 2 months old now and although we've not seen him since he was a week old, I get regular photo updates from Laura.  So thought I'd pop a few on as well as some I nicked of Dad's camera card this week when he was up!

As I said there's been snow here in Aberdeen again, so here's some of my shots this past week....

Tesco Trees.jpg
Friday - the start of the snowfall
King George Bridge.jpg

Sunday - the ice beginning to form on the River Dee

River Arches Frozen.jpg

Monday - the ice thickens resembling Antarctica

Tuesday - Old bloke being daft going over to take photos.  He turned back, realised it was just too dangerous thankfully before it was too late!

Thursday  - the snow/ice is melting letting some water go downstream leaving massive icebergs at the sides.  They must be 3 or 4 ft high.

And a handful from last week...

Snow & Visitor

Kids House.jpgLast Friday it started to snow.  A lot.  It dumped down about 5 inches in a couple of hours.  James couldn't get a but as Aberdeen went completely gridlocked.  So he walked home.  Impressively it only took 55 mins.

Dad Kory Krystal.jpgWe didn't do much on Saturday or Sunday morning, but my Dad arrived later on Sunday to stay for a few days.  James had done a roast dinner so that was gobbled up before the kids went to bed.

Monday was our usual day of "the Kory show" with nursery and rising 5's.  Krystal was delighted to stay in the house with Grandpa though and not walk in the snow.  The 3 of us then nipped to Asda where Krystal got a present of 2 more princesses.  She was delighted.  After Kory had Rising 5's we went to a sports shop for him to choose a "proper" football.  It was a tough decision, not least because oneof the ones he liked was a Rangers ball.  As much as my Dad and I are fans, it's not what I'd want living in Aberdeen.  Eventually one was chosen in my old school colours which is odd!

Krystal Drinking.jpgOn the way home we passed the River Dee which was frozen.  We had no cameras on us, so we went home and Dad let me loose with his fancy Nikon.  I took it and ran before he changed his mind! I had a great time with it.  Photo of river on another blog of photos tomorrow!

Kory Julie Dad.jpgYesterday was a quiet morning, both kids in nursery/2's and dad had a rest.  We played games and Dad took some photo's of the kids in the snow before it was time to head to Kory's boxing (via the river again!)  Once he was done, we headed to Nando's for a meal.  I only then realised I hadn't really taken photos since Dad was up.  Oops.  We had a lovely meal, and it was bitterly cold when we left.

Krystal Kory Drinking.jpg

Kory Smiling.jpgThis morning was a bit crazy busy, Kory to nursery, Krystal to 2's, me to hygenist, Dad to station to go home then back to collect the kids!  And there ended our chaotic week with a chilled afternoon.  Krystal had to phone Grandpa on the train, I don't think she grasped him saying goodbye when she went into rising 2's as him saying goodbye to go home.  When I picked her up she cried that he had gone.  So a phonecall to talk to him fixed her - not sure it fixed Dad though!!

Kids Hazlehead.jpgOn Saturday it was sunny so we went to Dobbies and then on to Hazlehead Park.  We took our scooters, but I didn't want to take mine out the car and decided to run instead.  Kory scooted on his one.

Kory taking a photo.jpgFirst we went through all the trees and Kory used his camera to take some pictures.

Kids Park.jpgThen we got to my favourite area in the park - the play bit.  It was a bit muddy and dirty but we managed to have some fun too.

James Krystal3.jpgIt was a bit cold so we went to explore the rest of the park for a while, before heading back to the car.  It's nice to get to the park again, maybe spring will be here soon.

Geeky Kory.jpgWhen we got home we had hot ribena to heat us up and Kory had a snuggle with Mummy on the couch reading one of Daddy's work books.  I think he might turn into a geek too.  Just as well me and Mummy are both girls.

Painting Pots1.jpgWe've been doing a craft over a few days which has been good fun.  On Friday, Mummy gave us some pots that were a redish brownish kind of colour and we both chose a colout to paint them.  I chose blue and Krystal chose pink.  We painted and we painted for ages until the pots were covered all over.

Then yesterday we got out the glitter glue pens and we drew on them and Mummy  helped us write our names on them.  We had to leave them to dry overnight.

Planting1.jpgThen today we got to put in some mud.  That bit was fun and messy!

Tomato Seeds In1.jpgNext we put in some tomato seeds and some more mud and water.  Now they are on the kitchen windowsill and they are going to turn into plants that grow tomatoes in the summertime.  Yummy!

Toothache

Snow rocket.jpgThis is what my life has consisted of for over a week now (with a bug maybe thrown in for good measure, not sure!)  It all started 2 weekends ago, the pain increased a notch on the intensity levels.  I went out for lunch on the Saturday with friends, while James and the kids made snow rockets.  yes you read it right, it's a space rocket!

I have an appointment booked for the 16th and thought I'd mention it then.  I was also due to have my heart monitor out on the Wednesday (3rd) so didn't need a dentist visit the same week.  By the Monday teatime I knew I had to go so called to see him the following day.  The logic being that he could assess it and book me in to remove it later on.

I saw the dentist on the Tuesday who wanted me to take anti-biotics for a week then remove the tooth.  So I was booked in for Monday.  Great I thought, these would reduce the pain, but in the meantime I knew I couldn't go for my op the next day so cancelled that.

Kory Getting Red Band.jpgLater that afternoon Kory had his grading at boxing (otherwise we'd have given it a miss!) for his red band.   Once again he was the youngest ready to grade at that level so was in with 2 bigger boys!   He did really well holding his own and doing his new move in order to pass.

Kory Red Band.jpg

And pass he did, here he is with his new band and his new class jumper.

Red band boys.jpgI woke up on Wednesday morning in agony.  I cried several times when strong painkillers were doing nothing,  and gave in and phoned the dentist again at lunchtime.  They said to come in at 5:30pm and just get the tooth out.  I can't explain how long away that seemed.  I gave the kids their lunch and lay on the couch.  Then the phone rang, the dentist saying they had a cancellation and could I make it at 2:45pm!  Of course I could!

Krystal Toys Floor.jpgBy 3:30pm it was all over, the tooth was out and i had a delightful local anaesthetic meaning I felt nothing!  The next day was a different story.  I'd been told to carry on with the antibiotics anyway, and I felt so sick.  By night time I felt really ill.  On Friday I made the decision to stop taking them, but struggled on through the day in agony and feeling ill.  (Krystal has taken to playing with the small basket of baby toys I keep for visitors!)

Pizza.jpgThankfully it was the weekend and there was plenty of Daddy time to be had, they all made pizza dough and toppings for dinner!  I felt rough all day Saturday, and finally felt remotely human to go to food shopping on Sunday.  So really haven't done a lot since the last blog.  Pretty much got through each day by the skin of my teeth (no pun intended) and felt pathetic because it's *only* toothache.   Though anyone I say that too says they'd do childbirth before toothache again!

Krystal Bird Table.jpgYesterday and today have been a bit more normal, in fact today the kids and I put together a bird house that's been in the garage since November, the poor wee birdies starving with all that snow too!

Hoping normal service will resume soon!
