James Kids Wedding.jpgAs promised, here are our photos with a bit about the day (some photos from later in the day at the start, but mostly tried to keep in order).  I do believe there might even be people looking in here who don't normally, just for photos of the wedding!  Hello & enjoy if that's you!

Krystal Juice.jpgI was up really early, to get showered, dressed, do Krystal's hair and out to get a taxi by 8am.  Just about managed it.  James was to be responsible for getting both kids ready and not letting her mess her hair.  I have to say I was rather impressed with the results!

Julie Hair1.jpgThe other bridesmaids, Lisa & Shelley, and I arrived at Frances and Graham's house about 8:45am just in time to head to the hairdessers.  It was really nice getting pampered before I was even properly awake!

Bridesmaid.jpgMy hair was put up in a way I'd never normally wear it, but it was lovely, making it special for the day.  We had all had our hair done by 10am, when Jenni discovered she'd lost her credit card.  Luckily she knew she'd last used it at the kilt shop, called them and they had it - panic over!

Family of 4.jpgBack at the house we all just chilled for a bit, played with Lagan (Jenni & Dave's son) and Seb (Lisa & Ian's son) had something to eat, and met the photographer.  We were doing our own make up for the wedding, so we started doing that, and time suddenly flew in and it was time to get our dresses on.

Jenni Julie.jpgThe cars came just after 1pm, and of course we weren't ready!  isn't that all part of it?!  We were soon though.  Frances, Lagan, Seb and us bridesmaids went in the first car with Jenni and her dad in the second.

Venue.jpgWe arrived at the hotel and were shown up to the floor the wedding was to be on.   The room was all set out beautifully with everyone waiting.  While Jenni met the registrar, we stood chatting to the photographer, and while this might be a bit too much information, I feel I should record it.  His trousers zip was down and Shelley thought she better tell him before he went in to the ceremony like that!  Very grateful he was if somewhat embarassed!

Ceremony.jpgWe went in as soon as Jenni and her dad arrived.  The ceremony was lovely, everyone was doing really well not crying...until Fraser (Jenni's brother) did his reading.  It was lovely, he got emotional, setting lots of others off.  He charmingly told Jenni in the middle "I hate you" for making him do that in public.  It was sweet though.

Mr and Mrs Greenbank.jpgAfter the signing of the register and Mr & Mrs Greenbank walking back up the aisle, there was time for a quick drink before being whisked off for photos at Hollyrood Park.  I have to say it wass a bit chilly up there, but I think the photos will be brilliant.  There were even foreigners coming up asking for photos with them.  Amusing!

Julie Krystal Wedding.jpgBack at the hotel in the heat, we had a while to mingle before dinner and I finally got a chance to see James, Kory & Krystal all dressed up.

Playing Wedding.jpg

By then the kids had lost all shyness and were running about like mad things with all the other kids.

Mr & Mrs.jpgI kind of lost track of time (nothing to do with the bubbly....honest!) but at some point we went down the line up, then in for the speeches before our meal.

Best Man Speech.jpg

They were all well done, and amusing/emotional in parts as expected.

Kids meal.jpgI had been a bit worried about how the kids would cope with 5 course, but they did brilliantly.  I let them out their seats between courses and they sat very nicely when there was food.  There were boxes on the tables with goodies inside to amuse them all which worked well.

Meal Time.jpg

Wedding Breakfast.jpg

The food was delicious, with a sorbet intermediate course thrown in to confuse the kids into thinking they'd had pudding when their main course was still to come.  The wine was rather free flowing, not entirely helped by the kids having wine glasses at their places that the waiter filled thinking one was mine when I had a full glass.  Would have been rude to send it back of course.

Skipping Men.jpgThe evening guests turned up about 7:30pm and the room wasn't ready yet.  We had to get more photos taken that hadn't been fitted in earlier and some good skipping ones were taken of Jenni and bridesmaids.  We decided that Dave, Ian and James should have skipping ones taken too.  Brilliant!  I even got a video too.  It will follow!

First Dance 2.jpgThe Ceilidh got off to a start after Jenni & Dave's first dance to "Stand By Me".

James Krystal Dancing.jpgKory & Krystal were a bit unsure, Krystal has a wee practise at the side with James, but mostly they watched James and I dancing.  It was fun, though I have to say I'm suffering today for it (muscles and feet agony)

James1.jpg

James Kory Ceilidh.jpgKory even got up for one dance with James, and did really well, until his foot was stood on and that was it, he'd not go up again.  At least he gave it a shot.

Cheesy Julie.jpg

Seb Sweeties.jpgBut more interesting to him and Krystal was a room Frances had arranged to be set up.  There was a lovely lady there to play with and amuse the kids and loads of sweets!  There was crafts to do, masks to make and a Wii to play.

Masked Krystal.jpg

Masked Kory.jpg

Jenni Dancing.jpgEveryone seemed to have a great time at the Ceilidh, and I have to say well done to all those English people who got up to give it a go.  Often at a wedding the Scottish are up giving it their all with any English sit looking.  All but a few seemed to up for it.

Julie Dancing.jpgThere was an interval with some bacon rolls, wedding cake and sweeties before the dancing started again.  I got in once dance with Graham after the break before Krystal went into meltdown.  It was time to leave.  I was impressed they'd done so well lasting until 11pm.  There didn't seem much point trying to get her to sleep that late, so we just collected out stuff and said our goodbyes.

Julie Krystal3.jpgKrystal cried the whole way back to our hotel, and Kory walked proudly up the street in his kilt like a proper wee man.  Lots of  "awwws" were heard.  On arrival at the hotel, we found about a months worth of sweets in Kory's sporran - cheeky monkey.  Most kids get money, he nicked the sweets!

It was a long, lovely day, that we were all very proud to be part of - especially me to be asked to be part of the bridal party.  Everything went smoothly and Jenni looked every part the happy bride.  We wish both Jenni and Dave a happy married life together.

Yesterday was Jenni's wedding.  My dad came along to take a few photos, so I said I'd get them online tonight for her before she goes away on honeymoon.  I'll be sorting mine out later on (and will do another blog with story), but I didn't have my camera with me, and James was co-ordinating the 2 kids, so there aren't too many!

Today we went to Jessica and Sophie's 5th Birthday party, so now they are the same age as me.  They really like High School Musical so had a party that had a theme of that.  I wore my basketball / football kit and Krystal dressed like Sharpay who is one of the characters.  Here are some of the photos Mummy took.

Mum Kids.jpgOn Thursday lunchtime we went to pick Mum up from the station.  We came back to the house for a couple of hours before heading back into town.  This time to collect James from work.  He got in the car, Mum and I got out and went late night shopping!

It was great fun, my feet were killing me and my tummy was rumbling by the time the shops closed at 9pm though, so we headed to Nando's for some food.

Mum Krystal Princesses.jpgOn Friday morning Mum did the nursery run, then we went to Matalan to return some stuff, and back for Kory.  We had a bit of a chill in the house for a while, Kory building more of his k'nex (which he's getting really good at, see below's ferris wheel) and Krystal playing princesses with Mum.

Knex Kids.jpg

Kids Dobbies.jpgWe decided on a trip to Dobbies in the afternoon - the kids had cake and we were good just having a drink!

On Saturday James, Kory and Mum went to Kory's swimming lesson, then we spent the afternoon in the garden as it was quite warm.  All was well with jumping off steps, peeking through the house singing songs and making puddles, until Krystal fell.  She grazed her toe and oh the drama!  She cried on and off for a couple of hours!

Kory Jump.jpgKrystal Jump.jpg

Princess Krystal1.jpgOn Sunday Mum had to go back for her train home just after lunch.  We didn't do much, just a Homebase trip and a tidy of the house.  Here is Princess Krystal trying on a new dress and tiara for her holidays!

James Grass.jpgThis week is back to normal, whatever that is these coming weeks.  We've so much on with Kory's primary 1 inductions, Krystal's nursery inductions, Jenni's wedding and life in between (like keeping on top of the ever growing grass!)

And lastly a couple of photos from last weekend.

Hen Do

On Saturday morning I got on a train to head to Edinburgh for Jenni's hen do.  Her mum Frances kindly collected me from the station so I didn't have to work out how to get to her house.  We had a delicious lunch there then got taxi into Edinburgh to play LaserQuest.  I opted out as I knew I'd burn myself out before the evening if I did that.

Hen doo 1.JPGNext we went on an open top bus tour of Edinburgh.  I don't know the city very well so it was nice to do it.  The tour guide was dreadful though.  The photo is all of us.

Jenni Hen.jpgWe headed to the hotel after this to chill for a while then get ready for our night out.  Here is Jenni all ready to go with her delightful veil on!

Stag Lot.jpgJust as we were leaving, a stag do from the room next door appeared wanting make up to dress the stag up!  Poor guy!

Jenni Dancer.JPGOur first stop was a Salsa restaurant for a salsa class.  it was interesting and a lot more fun than I expected it to be.  It's fair to say I was useless at it and spent most of it giggling!

Food.jpgNext we sat down for a meal.  It was a set menu and the amount of food that came out was something else!

Hen doo 2.JPGHere we all are at the table.

Jenni Pub.jpgWe headed to a couple of pubs after the meal was done then on to the Salsa Club that we had free entry to as part of the package.  By this time we were all fading as we'd been up since early.  The salsa club as actually great and some of the people in there were amazing at doing it.   We gave up trying to keep our eyes open about midnight.  I felt bad for Jenni as it was ending early, but she looked as exhausted as the rest of us!

P25-04-10_0945.jpgWe sat chatting for a while back at the hotel, and were kept up later by the stag do coming back.  We were up fairly early in the morning.  As I don't do breakfast I decided to get dressed as the others went for it.  Bad move!  A fire alarm went off and I had to go outside in my pyjamas.  It was POURING and the fire brigade had to come and check it out.  It was nothing thankfully.

Another kind lift from Frances took me back to the station for the journey home.  The kids and James had missed me but had fun, including Kory's 1st swimming lesson which went well.

Fireplace Gone!

Fireplace2.jpgAnother busy week here.  Monday was a roasting hot day, so we spent it playing outside with friends.  On Tuesday after nursery and rising 2's, my Dad arrived up to help James remove our fireplace.  It's something that's been a long time in coming over the winter as it's basically a hole to the outside and it's too expensive to run so was only a decorative piece.  And not a very nice one at that (though James differs in opinion, he agrees it's crazy we were spending days upstairs in winter as it was warmer!)  I'll pop in some work in progress photos.

Fireplace Hole2.jpgWe went to boxing as normal with Kory then home for dinner.  On Wednesday morning I had a dress fitting for Jenni's wedding (which for once I'm pleased to report went well!) and then collected Krystal to find she'd cried the whole time in Rising 2's while I was away.  Not very sure what that was all about.

Kicking Ball2.jpgPlaying Football Dad.jpg

Fireplace Patched2.jpgWhen we got home, the Sky+ box decided it would be a good time to pack in.  It really set work backwards on the fireplace as we all scuttered about trying to work out what was wrong with it.  It randomly came back on after 2 hours.  Very odd!

On Thursday the plastering was finished off and the kids watched Alvin & the Chipmunks the Squeakel that they got from Dad.  They'd seen it in the cinema and really enjoyed it.

Dad Krystal Ice Cream2.jpg

Opening Present.jpgWhile Kory was in nursery, Dad gave Krystal an early birthday present from him and Tricia.  It is a Steiff bear called Krystal who is wearing Swarovski crystals on her collar.  It's really unusual to find anything with the name Krystal let alone the same spelling.  She's really chuffed with it.  Only she wants to take it everywhere, so it needs to find a home in her room to not constantly touch it!

Krystal and Krystal2.jpg

Dad and Kids2.jpgDad left on Friday morning and I busy bodied about the house, painted the plastered area, baked Krystal's birthday cake and did some craft stuff with the monkey's.  We then picked up James from work and went to B&Q to choose some paint to go on the wall.

Krystal wasn't well through the night last night, up and down like a yo-yo to the toilet.  She seemed a bit better this morning, and we were all up early to get on with things that needed done.  I got stuck into painting the wall in the living room while James and the kids started building the new storage for the playroom (Dad kindly brought it up from Ikea, we've wanted it for ages but couldn't get for it with kids in car!)

Pony Cake.jpgOnce I was done, I showered, had lunch and started more decorating.  This time Krystal's birthday cake.  She's been asking for a My Little Pony cake for a while, and seeing as she's not having a party, I thought I'd make more effort with her cake.  So here is the result.  I've even impressed myself if I'm honest, I've not done anything like this before, and I think it's turned out really well!  Krystal thinks so too, which is the important bit.

New Playroom2.jpgBy the time I had done that, James was finished with the building of the unit, so it was time to get in about the playroom.  Yikes that was a big job.  They have been given so many sticker/dot to dot/colouring books over the years that I had to sort.  So now everything has a place and it's clean.  The theory is now I won't be tripping over stuff constantly.  Let's see what the reality is.  Worst case I reckon is that it's me putting it back in these places!

New Living Room 12.jpgNew Living Room 22.jpg

Here is the final result of the living room.  I am very very happy with it.  Not only is the gaping hole closed, I've got my bay window back by being able to use the longest wall in the room for a couch.  Many thanks to Dad for all his help with it and Tricia for being ill alone while he was here.  All in all a very productive day here!

April Snow.jpgAfter the snow on Wednesday last week, it looked like we might not get visitors!  But they got here on Thursday night once the kids were in bed.

Chad Kory Grumpy.jpgJames was at work on Friday as normal, so the rest of us headed in to union Square for a lunch out.  The kids chose Pizza Hut.  It was actualy nice - think they've gone upmarket recently or something!  We came home and I had a dress fitting (bridesmaids dress for Jenni's wedding) so Kory & Krystal stayed here with Coral & Chad while I went.

Kory Feed Sheep1.jpgOnce we were all sorted we decided to head to Doonies Farm as it was re-opening.  It was a bit of a chilly day, but it was nice to be outside.  They gave all the kids buckets of veg to go round and feed the animals.  Kory loved it, Krystal was having none of it!!

Kids Grandparents.jpgYesterday (Easter Sunday) we went to Drum Castle just like we did last year.  It was a warmer day and we did some egg rolling, had a play in the park (where Krystal managed to swallow a whole polo mint and needed squeezed to make her sick) then went a walk round the forest trail.

Today was a sitting about doing nothing day, which I don't do well.  I hate being stuck in the house as I'm here all the time.  But everyone else wanted to chill before travelling again.  So, um, I don't have much to report on that!

Garden Lunch.jpgOn Wednesday, we came home from school/nursery and it was nice and warm so me and Kory wanted to play in the garden when Mummy made lunch.  We had so much fun that we kept playing and playing and we even asked if we could eat our lunch out there.  Mummy said it wasn't warm enough but we were too pleased to be outside that we didn't want to go in!

Cute Krystal.jpg

Laura Jamie Owen.jpgAfter our lunch we walked down to the bus stop to meet Auntie Laura, Uncle Jamie & Baby Owen (We decided he's Uncle Jamie as that's what Auntie's have, but it is a bit confusing as we already have an Uncle Jamie [Mummy's bother] )  We came home and played for a wee while before dinner and bedtime.  I was a bit nervous of Owen, but he realy likes Kory.  Kory makes faces at him and he laughs.

Owen Funny Face.jpg

Sisters.jpgOn Thursday I stayed with Auntie Laura while the others took Kory to nursery.  When they came back we went to a garden centre as Auntie Laura wanted more of the chocolate we got her for her birthday!  Owen fell asleep in the car and stayed sleeping all the way to nursery in my buggy.

Smiley Owen.jpgAs the 3 grandchildren won't be together too often, Mummy and Laura got her a photo frame for mothers day.  So in the afternoon we needed to take the photos to put in it.   Here are the 4 that were chosen in the end.

Kids on Bus.jpgOn Friday morning we went to Asda to get the pictures printed off then after we got Kory we went into town to meet Daddy for lunch and do some shopping.  We got the bus into town as we don't all fit in the car, and it was so exciting!

Kory Bow.jpg

Kory trying on a bow in town!  Doesn't he look cute?

Kory Passport.jpgYesterday morning they all had to get the train home again.  We really enjoyed having Baby Owen to stay, and it's very quiet here now!  In the afternoon we went into town (again) to get Kory fitted for his kilt for Jenni & Dave's wedding, then Kory's passport photo taken.

Laura Kory.jpgToday was Mothers Day - we got up early to give Mummy her card and present.  In the afternoon, Mummy had to go bra shopping, then we went to get me some new shoes.  Because I have funny sized feet, I ended up getting the same shoes as I had last year, but I think they are beautiful!
