Halloween 3

We had a birthday party this afternoon and we got our dinner there too.  We went to the party dressed up because it was Halloween today.  When we got home Mummy set up a basin of water and put in some apples.  But she was cruel, she removed the stalks except on one for Krystal.  She got hers easily.

I tried for a wee while, but couldn't get one, then Mummy showed me how to do it properly.  She got very very wet.  She emptied out some of the water after her turn to make it easier for me.

Next Daddy had a shot, he got his easily now there was less water.

Then I had another turn, well lots of turns actually.  I couldn't catch my apple at all.  Eventually I did, and I was soaking!

Googlewhack

"A what" I hear some of your say?!?

Last night we watched a comedy show called "Dave Gorman's GoogleWhack Adventure" . The theme of the program surrounds a game called Googlewhacks and Dave Gorman's obession with it. It was actually quite funny but more in the way he tells his story rather than what he's saying.

So what's a Googlewhack and how do you play it?

Simply put, using Google you have to get it to return a single result using two words.

There are some rules though:

1) You're not allowed to submit the words in quote marks.
2) The words have to appear in Google's Dictionary - http://www.answers.com. Rather than having to keep popping back and forth to here the way you know it's correct is by making sure that the words are underlined and linking to the dictionary in the blue bar at the top of the results page.
3) Also in that bar it should say "Results 1 - 1"
4) Finally, Google has to show the two words in the excerpt of the page in the results. If it's in a list like a dictionary, glossary, thesaurus etc. then it doesn't count.

Not so easy now is it

I'm not going to put an example on here as it will probably be out of date by tomorrow morning so have a look at the official site www.googlewhack.com. Have a go and if you do manage to get one then you submit it to them. Oh and don't forget to put it on here so we can look as well .

This is from an article one of the guys at work just sent me.

Is the woman going clockwise or anti-clockwise?

Spinning Lady

If you're seeing her spin anti-clockwise then you use the left side of your brain more, if you see it spinning clockwise you use the right.

Extracted from the article this means the following:

LEFT BRAIN FUNCTIONS RIGHT BRAIN FUNCTIONS
uses logic
detail oriented
facts rule
words and language
present and past
math and science
can comprehend
knowing
acknowledges
order/pattern perception
knows object name
reality based
forms strategies
practical
safe
uses feeling
"big picture" oriented
imagination rules
symbols and images
present and future
philosophy & religion
can "get it" (i.e. meaning)
believes
appreciates
spatial perception
knows object function
fantasy based
presents possibilities
impetuous
risk taking

I'm definately right sided and Julie, although stronger on her left ,seems to see both.

What can you see?

At last, I've finally found a game worthy of putting on the blog!!

I've been nosing around for something to pass my time over lunch for sometime but nothing has really caught my attention, until now!!!

I came across this little puzzler last week - Atomica

I've not been taking note of my score but so far I've manage to get a ranking of Professor (I think it's over 20000 points you get it).

As usual, give it a go and let us know how you get on.

Cheers,
James

Not a game as such but a website full of them.

I've been visiting Globz for a couple of years now and think it's a great little site to pass 5 minutes during your lunch break.

A couple of favourites are -

The Dancer
Viral Pursuit
and if you can find someone else to play with give Trackwars a go :)

Games seems to be quite popular on here so we've found another one to get your teeth into.

It's called Gold Strike and can be found at: http://www.flasharcade.com/game.php?goldstrike&1. We've both been playing it for a couple of weeks now and it's VERY addictive (would you expect anything else from us :) ).

Julie's managed to get to Level 9 and I've got to Level 7 once or twice. We've not been watching the scores but let us know how you get on and we'll see if we can beat it ;)

Bye Bye Froggies

It's a sad day in the Buckingham household today as we say good bye to two dear...dear friends, Georgie and Froogle. Our Racing Frogs.

With the help of Julie and me, we've seen them both grow over the past three months from tiny tadpole to lean-mean elite hopping machines. Never willing to take anything less than first place in their daily races, both have dominated their froggie groups and leagues since October last year.

After 240 frog days (3 days for every human day) both can now enjoy a happy retirement on the sunny banks of Lily Pond drinking their Frog Juice and eating their Chocolate bugs. Have fun guys, we'll miss you!!!
