Kory Concert

Today was Kory's school Christmas concert.  Gone are the days of Christmas concerts being kids singing Christmas songs.  Oh no, dressed as cowboys, performing a show where they have a ho-down in a barn around about a woman having a baby called Jesus.  Narrated by a fieldmouse no less.  Confused?  So were we.

AND - we were charged £2.50 each to go and watch it.  For licensing fees apparently.  Bring back Away in a Manger, Jingle Bells and We Wish you a Merry Christmas I say, and free entry!

Bonfire 2.JPGBonfire.JPG

Fireworks Best.JPGAs we were away for Dad & Tricia's wedding reception last night, we took the kids down to Stonehaven tonight for their fireworks display.  It was the first time the kids have seen a bonfire as Aberdeen don't allow one (health and safety or something!) We met up with Melanie, Liam, Leah & Hannah there too, who had the kids overnight last night for us.

Sparklers weren't allowed, so we all came back to the house afterwards to do them.

What a great night!

Today was a good day.  After school I came home and got changed into some warm clothes and then we went to get Daddy from work and down to the beach.  We had a wonder about the golf area and then we went to Chiquitos for some yummy dinner.

James Sparkler.jpgBy the time we got finished it was fireworks time!  Krystal and I had our earmuffs on to stop our ears getting cold and stop the noise a bit too.  First of all we had sparklers (once Daddy got it to light)

Krystal Sparkler.jpgThen it was time for the show.  It was done to music and was really good this year and not too noisy.  Here are some of the fireworks...

Guy Fawkes Craft

Krystal Crayon.jpgI failed in doing Halloween crafts this year with the kids, so today set to with the Guy Fawkes one initially just with Krystal while Kory was at school (but I started one for him)

Crayonpics.jpgFirst of all we used coloured crayons to completely cover a sheet of paper which Krystal loved doing!

Painting Black.jpgNext we painted over the whole lot with blackpaint and let it dry in.  Another task Krystal enjoyed, not often she gets to cover every cm of paper in paint!

By the time Krystal and I went to Asda and home, then to collect Kory, did his homework and had snacks, they were dry!

Both Scraping.jpgI gave the kids each their non sharp knives and let them get scraping out fireworks.  When the paint is scraped off, the crayons are revealed giving really pretty pictures.  I had even done one myself to show them how to do it of course :)

Fireworks Pics.jpgOnce they were finished, they were all looking really good, but Krystal suggested some glitter to make them sparkly too.  Why not!??

With Glitter.jpgHere are the finished works of art - can't see the glitter too well in a photo, but they've put them on their wardrobe doors to admire and they really catch the light.
