Krystal's Illness

Playroom Girl.jpgAs I have said before, she's not been well with a diarrhoea bug type thing.  Well it went on for ages and i took her to the doctor last Thursday.  They think she has a temporary lactose intolerance and as a precaution (with my stomach problems, her lack of weight gain as a baby looking like lactose problems and my brother Jamie having Crohns Disease) have referred her to the childrens hospital.

Squish.jpgThat seemed to be clearing up, but when I got back from the Hen weekend on Sunday, things had taken a new turn and she was crying every time she did a wee and thinking she needed to go again 5 more times in the following 10 minutes.

Princess Krystal.jpgMonday I gave her cranberry juice and made sure she drank lots of water.  I didn't want to be dramatic Mummy back at doctors so soon!  But by yesterday I gave in as it hadn't improved at all.  They took a sample (it was clear) and some antibiotics.   Time will tell if that does anything.  Poor kid has had weeks of hating going to the toilet.  Not that you'd guess all this from the photos eh?  How rose tinted things can seem sometimes on a blog!  She's spent the best part of this week crying her eyes out.

Birthday Girl

Presents1.jpgToday was Krystal's 3rd birthday.  She was up again in the night last night so didn't get up until 8:10am.  She was so excited to see this pile of presents waiting for her.

ipod.jpgI think her face says it all in this photo when she opened her pink iPod.  She might only be turning 3, but she really wasn't needing anything, Kory has one and they both love music.  Getting one of the old style ones like his but in pink wasn't the easiest thing!

Opening Present1.jpgWe got all ready and headed to the cinema for 10am (yawn) to see a film about mermaids.  The write up made it sound like a rewrite of "The Little Mermaid" but it wasn't what we expected at all.  It was japanese cartoon.  They enjoyed it though, and I got into it as it went on!

Lifted Birthday Girl.jpgWe then headed to Pizza Hut for lunch.  We met a couple of the kids friends there which they loved and the food went down well too!

Huffy Birthday Girl.jpg

Gardens Birthday Girl.jpgWe came home for a while after that, to make phonecalls to people who'd been trying to get us all morning and to chill for a bit.  Krystal was a bit huffy and tired, so we scrapped any plans we had for the afternoon and decided just to head to Johnstone Gardens for a walk and then to a playpark.

BW Bridge.jpg

Kory SeeSaw.jpgThough this ended in disaster when Kory was on one of the wobbly things (you know like a horse on a big coiled spring) and made it go so fast it came back and smacked him in the eye!

Up at Park.jpg

Happy Birthday.jpgWe came home, fed the troops (again!) and sang Happy Birthday and blew out the candles.   The cake was very yummy even if I do say so myself!

Blowing Candles4.jpg

Kimono Krystal.jpgWhen we went upstairs to get ready for bed, Krystal wanted to try on one of her presents from Nana.  She got it last year in China and kept for her birthday.  I think it was meant to be for dressing up, but I love it!  Only not sure when I'd ever put it on her.  Only time I can think is on a holiday in the evening for eating out.  It's so pretty.  She was so funny bowing in it too.

I think a good day was had by her, she's come so far from this...

Happy Birthday Princess Krystal

Garden Lunch.jpgOn Wednesday, we came home from school/nursery and it was nice and warm so me and Kory wanted to play in the garden when Mummy made lunch.  We had so much fun that we kept playing and playing and we even asked if we could eat our lunch out there.  Mummy said it wasn't warm enough but we were too pleased to be outside that we didn't want to go in!

Cute Krystal.jpg

Laura Jamie Owen.jpgAfter our lunch we walked down to the bus stop to meet Auntie Laura, Uncle Jamie & Baby Owen (We decided he's Uncle Jamie as that's what Auntie's have, but it is a bit confusing as we already have an Uncle Jamie [Mummy's bother] )  We came home and played for a wee while before dinner and bedtime.  I was a bit nervous of Owen, but he realy likes Kory.  Kory makes faces at him and he laughs.

Owen Funny Face.jpg

Sisters.jpgOn Thursday I stayed with Auntie Laura while the others took Kory to nursery.  When they came back we went to a garden centre as Auntie Laura wanted more of the chocolate we got her for her birthday!  Owen fell asleep in the car and stayed sleeping all the way to nursery in my buggy.

Smiley Owen.jpgAs the 3 grandchildren won't be together too often, Mummy and Laura got her a photo frame for mothers day.  So in the afternoon we needed to take the photos to put in it.   Here are the 4 that were chosen in the end.

Kids on Bus.jpgOn Friday morning we went to Asda to get the pictures printed off then after we got Kory we went into town to meet Daddy for lunch and do some shopping.  We got the bus into town as we don't all fit in the car, and it was so exciting!

Kory Bow.jpg

Kory trying on a bow in town!  Doesn't he look cute?

Kory Passport.jpgYesterday morning they all had to get the train home again.  We really enjoyed having Baby Owen to stay, and it's very quiet here now!  In the afternoon we went into town (again) to get Kory fitted for his kilt for Jenni & Dave's wedding, then Kory's passport photo taken.

Laura Kory.jpgToday was Mothers Day - we got up early to give Mummy her card and present.  In the afternoon, Mummy had to go bra shopping, then we went to get me some new shoes.  Because I have funny sized feet, I ended up getting the same shoes as I had last year, but I think they are beautiful!

Kids Hazlehead.jpgOn Saturday it was sunny so we went to Dobbies and then on to Hazlehead Park.  We took our scooters, but I didn't want to take mine out the car and decided to run instead.  Kory scooted on his one.

Kory taking a photo.jpgFirst we went through all the trees and Kory used his camera to take some pictures.

Kids Park.jpgThen we got to my favourite area in the park - the play bit.  It was a bit muddy and dirty but we managed to have some fun too.

Krystal Slide.jpg

James Krystal3.jpgIt was a bit cold so we went to explore the rest of the park for a while, before heading back to the car.  It's nice to get to the park again, maybe spring will be here soon.

Geeky Kory.jpgWhen we got home we had hot ribena to heat us up and Kory had a snuggle with Mummy on the couch reading one of Daddy's work books.  I think he might turn into a geek too.  Just as well me and Mummy are both girls.

Krystal's Party

This got a bit sidelined for the weekend blogs, so thought she deserved one of her own!

Any Snow1.jpgOn Friday it was finally Krystal's turn for a party after ferrying Kory about all week to his!  It was in the afternoon, so we killed some time in the morning by going to the end of term service at Kory's school.  I like going there, it's very Christmassy and I leave all happy. The photo is the kids hoping for snow!

Krystal Party Dress1.jpgAfter lunch Krystal got on her "pretty dress", her sparkly tights, her shiny shoes and her new ring (from Gran for Christmas, but was allowed to wear for parties!)  I did her hair in matching ribbons and she was ready to go.

Krystal Fur Coat1.jpgOf course she wanted to wear her fur coat too!  She can be such a girly girl when she wants to be!

I took her down, then James and I went back down to see Santa arriving.  Kory stayed with Coral at the house, showing her a thing or two on Mariokart Wii!

Krystal Josh1.jpgThis is Krystal with Josh (Maria's son, Daniel's brother if you are a regular here!) both waiting patiently for the big guy to arrive.

Rising 2s Santa.jpgSome of the kids were scared of Santa.  Not Krystal.  She was sitting shouting at him "Santa, when is it going to be my turn?"  and "Santa, do you like my ring?" (while sticking up her middle finger to let him see, he replied it was lovely) then "Santa liked my ring Daddy!"

Krystal Santa Party1.jpg

She sat for ages, her present was the last one in his sack!

Snow Outside Party1.jpgWhen we came out of the party, the snow started.  Krystal was so excited about it.  It was a bit like it was symbolising the start of Christmas.

Meet Curly

Curly.jpg

Remember Kory got a dog (Scruffy) when he gave up his dummy?  ( See here if not! ) Well this is Curly, Krystal's sheep with her dummy inside.  Her story is rather different to Kory's though.  With him, he was built up to the dummy going, and accepted it along with the bribery.

Krystal however, gave up her dummy without a word.  In fact she didn't even notice!  It had always been attached to her sleeping bag, so when the weather started to get colder we said she could have her quilt on her bed to make a big girls bed.  The day we did it, I said to James that we could try just not giving her dummy to her and see if she asked for it.  She didn't!  In fact she never mentioned it, just accepting it was on her bag.

It was 2.5 months before she did mention it, in Asda and saw dummies on the shelf.  She said "oh look, a dummy.  I don't have a dummy, they're for babies and I'm a big girl" and that was that!

In the past she had known about Kory's Scruffy and said when she was a big girl she'd like a sheep with a dummy in.  So I thought that despite the fact she did it without a fuss, she deserved to get her one too.  So yesterday we went into town and did it.  True to her word she chose a sheep and wouldn't be swayed.  She's called her Curly.

Curly Scruffy.jpgThey both also got Santa hats for them - Kory has recently been playing with his a lot and took him to Mums last weekend too.  I have to say they look cute, but the whole "buying clothes for teddies" is not something I want to start!

So now I have 2 big kids with nothing baby left!  Yay!

Christmas Weekend

On Friday when I went with Mummy to collect Kory from nursery, he had a friend with him.  His name is Jim and he's nearly the same size as me!  He has a friend called Rosie who was going home for the weekend with one of the girls from nursery.  Jim was going to join us in the things we were doing at the weekend.

Kory Jim Drawing.jpgOur Saturday was spent playing games mostly.  I went shopping with Mummy while Kory and Daddy went to Maria's house to fix their computer.

Maria Leanne.jpgAt night time Mummy went out to a ladies night.  I can't wait to be big enough to go to one of them.

Kids Waiting Santa.jpgOn Sunday we went into town to see the Santa parade and to see his reindeers.  We wore our Christmas hairbands with Santa's and Snowmen on them.  I really liked the man dressed up as a reindeer too, but Mummy and Daddy thought it was strange.

Kids Dancing Glow Sticks.jpgAfter the parade, we went to get Daddy some new shoes and then for some lunch.  It was yummy!  We then bumped into Matthew and his family, went to the car to get warmer jackets and then went back to Union Street to wait for the Christmas lights to go on.  We had some glo sticks and sweeties and it was fun.

Kids Posing Lights On.jpg

Kids Jim Lights On.jpgWe watched the parade and dance to the music and saw Santa again.  We had a really nice day.  And I think Jim had fun too!

Banana Loaf.jpgToday was an extra day off and we spent it doing fun things.  Well me and Kory did, while Mummy did cleaning and stuff.  Then we all went out after lunch and then the best bit was making cake.  Banana cake.  And it was really yummy!

Autumn Craft

Leaves.jpgToday it was a yucky day outside so we didn't go out.  It's been raining and windy now for 4 days and it's getting boring.  Not a wee bit of wind and rain, it's LOTS.

Colourful Leaves.jpgSo today we got out the leaves that we collected the other day at the park and did lots and lots of stuff with them.

Leaf Rubbing.jpgFirst of all we used some pencils with our names on and hid a leaf under the paper.  When we did scribbles on the top, it was like magic and the picture of the leaf appeared.

Sticking Leaves.jpg

Kory Picture.jpgNext Mummy got out the glue and put some on a plate.  We had to dip in our favourite and most colourful leaves to make an Autumn picture.  We even stuck on our chestnuts and helicopters.  This is Kory's one, he wrote his name on by himself.  Mine is below, Daddy helped me write my name and turn one leaf into a beetle.

Krystal Picture.jpg

Leaf Printing.jpgWe still had some leaves left after the sticking, so we got out the paint and we were allowed to paint them and make prints on the paper.  It was really messy and such good fun.

Leaf Prints.jpg

Proud Painters.jpgTonight we're getting to stay up late and eat sweeties and watche Bolt because the clocks are going to change and Mummy & Daddy don't want to be wakened too early in the morning!

Painting and Brechin

Hospital.jpgWe've had a very fun 2 days.  Yesterday morning, Mummy and I took Kory to the hospital for his eye clinic appointment.  There were lots of toys there and in the room when he had his teast, there were lots of Dora stickers all over the wall.  He did his test and the doctor spoke to Mummy.  She said that unfortunately she couldn't discharge kory yet as his eye is still a bit squint and he's to go back in another 6 months to see if it is any better and get a different test.

Cheese Painting Kids.jpg

Painting Kids.jpgWhen we got home Mummy did some of her housework while we played and then it was time to do some painting.  We had sponges for printing, stencils and brushes.  And Mummy even showed us how to make butterflies by folding the paper in half.

Smiley Kory.jpgDrama Queen.jpgWe painted for ages and ages, had great fun and only made a little bit of a mess!

Brechin Castle.jpgToday was a very fun day too.  After our trip to Brechin Castle Centre that went very wrong a few weeks ago (the parents forgot to lock the front door so we had to go home!) we went back today.  It was a bit confusing when we tried to pay because there was some Viking convention on today and the lady didn't know if we wanted to go to it or not.

Playpark Brechin.jpgOnce we got in, we played in the park and I was milking the pretend cow.

Tractor.jpgMilking Cow.jpg

Highland Cow.jpgWe went a walk around the outside of the coutry park and we saw this Highland Cow.  Mummy likes them, she thinks they are lovely, but I think they look scary.

Brechin Centre.jpg

Shelter Kids.jpgWe stopped for a rest in a wee hut that we found, which helped my little legs.

Krystal Sandpit.jpgOnce we had seen all of the animals, we went to play on the tractors and to dig in the sandpit for treasure.  Kory and I were throwing sand all over the place which was really good fun.

Kids on Tractors.jpgWe had a little look around the gift shop and Christmas shop before heading back to the car.  Instead of going home, we went to Brewsters for our dinner which was yummy.

Krystal Big Bed.jpgTonight I am going to sleep without my sleeping bag for the first time since I was a baby.  I've got a new big girl quilt with butterflies on the cover.  Gran bought this for me before I was even born.  It looks really comfy and I am so grown up now.  Soon I'll be as big as Kory!

And lastly - here is Mummy being a big kid on the bouncy pillows.  These were great fun for us all!!

This morning I got up and realised I knew all of the alphabet and not just up to P like yesterday.  I've been saying it all day long.
