Stoney Ice Cream.JPG

it was quite a warm day, and the kids had asked for ice cream the last time we went to Stonehaven, but I had no money, so we decided today was the day to head down for some.

Water Reflection.jpgToday, after Kory went to Jamie's football birthday party, we decided to head out to Balmedie beach park seeing as the sun was out.  It wasn't particularly warm, but the kids had a great time paddling about in the water, jumping the waves, running down the sand dunes and generally having a great time in the park.  James even drew a giant teddy in the sand!

There's lots of photos which don't need explanation, so I'll let them talk for themselves.

DSC_0321.jpg

DSC_0332.jpgLast proper day of the summer holidays and a trip to Charleton Fruit Farm was in order.  We went with Maria, Davie, Daniel, Josh, Leanne, Craig, Jessica and Sophie.  James was at work.

DSC_0329.jpg

DSC_0344.jpgWe played in the huge play area for a couple of hours, had some lunch and then headed out to the fields to pick raspberries.  I think more were eaten than put in the baskets, but isn't that the point?

DSC_0322.jpgBy the time we had finished, I realised I'd lost my house keys.  It was decided to go out for something to eat together so I headed into town to collect James and to allow me into the house. We did a quick change and headed to Brewsters.

The kids had a great time having dinner with friends and I got a few drinks in!  All in all it was a lovely day out.   Some extra photos below....

Best Friends1.jpg

Today I got a surprise - when Mummy picked me up from nursery, she told me that we were going to Storybook glen with my best girl friend Annabel, her Mummy Fiona and her baby sister Elsa.  It was a very hot day so we had a picnic with us.

Eating Lunch.jpgWhen we arrived we sat at the tables outside and ate our lunch, it was such fun to have lunch with Annabel.

Once we had gobbled it all up, we got to go inside and down a big hill until we could see some of the characters.

Girls together.jpg

On Cow.jpgThere were loads from nursery rhymes like Humpty Dumpty, Old McDonald and Little Miss Muffet as well as lots from kids TV like Shrek, Teletubbies & Postman Pat.

Sweeties.jpgWe went round loads of them & played in all the parks there for ages.  We even stopped for some sweeties and sat on a picnic blanket for a while sunbathing so that Elsa could get out of her buggy for a while before it was time to head home and collect Kory from school.

BW Dad.jpgAs I said in the Hen Do post, we were down at Dad & Tricia's for the weekend.  On Sunday, we had a wee bit of a lazy morning to recover from the night before, even although I didn't drink much, my legs were killing me from wearing heels and my head was pounding from a stupid cold I had.

Dad Krystal1.jpgTricia had a sore back so decided to stay at home to rest while the rest of us headed to Chatelherault Country Park nearby.

Ice Lollies.jpgIt was a gorgeous day, there was a great park, an open space to kick a ball about on, a museum and an ice lolly shop.  What more could we want?

Falkirk Wheel1.jpgOn Monday morning we got up and packed and headed to the Falkirk wheel on the way back to Aberdeen.  We've been before a couple of years ago, but the kids don't remember it and we had a free ticket for us all to get on the boat ride.

Playing Football.jpgOn Friday the kids were off school but James was in work.  It was a really hot day and we spent most of it in the garden just playing and having fun.

Kory Football.jpg

Kids Watering Flowers.jpgWe planted my hanging baskets, did lots of watering and got Kory a new scooter off his birthday money.

BBQ.jpgWe ended the day by popping some baby burgers on the BBQ and halloumi on the BBQ.  A fab day!

BW Krystal beach.jpgOn Saturday we went down to Aberdeen beach - the kids both took scooters and we went quite far along and then back to get ice cream.

Aberdeen Beach.jpg

Ice Cream Beach.jpgWe sat eating it on a wee grass hill and then headed back to the car - just in time for the rain to start tipping down!

On Easter Sunday the kids got up to find their hidden eggs all round the living room which they enjoyed, then played in the garden until it was time for Daniel's birthday party.

Goal!.jpgAgain the weather held out most of the afternoon so all the kids were outside playing football - Kory's new obsession.   The rain came on about 6pm when it was time to head home anyway.  A great afternoon.

Kory decorated Egg.jpg

Today was the opposite to Friday, James was off and the kids were in school and rising 5's.  This is the egg Kory made for school (the theme was Faberge hence the sequence - it's a saltire just incase you can't tell!)

Easter Gift.jpg Krystal made this wee easter present, meant to be for me but think she wants it herself!

Holiday Part 2

I've not really got many photos this week, but wanted to note what we've done over the holidays.  So I'm afraid it'll mostly be a list for now and I'll pop on the photos I do have later.

Friday - had Melanie, Leah and Hannah over to play, we ordered domino's for lunch (yeah my diet went to pot!) The kids played nicely in the garden.

Saturday - we went to Drum castle for a couple of hours.  I do have photos of this, but will probably do a whole blog entry for it.

Sunday - I went into town to get things sorted for Krystal's birthday while James took the kids to the park.  We all met later on to go to Nando's as we had a voucher for those 3 to eat free.

Monday - day 1 of James' holidays, and it was pouring!  We used this time to clear the attic for the upcoming insulation and I got on top of clearing the kids rooms, drawers and did ironing I'd ignored for a week!

Tuesday - I wasn't feeling well, but I went for my injection then we headed down to the beach to the big park that Kory always asks to go to before boxing but we never have time.  They got a whole hour there before their boxing class.

Wednesday - an early start for something of a treat, breakfast out!  We've never done this before with the kids and they were so excited to be allowed pancakes and banana and maple syrup for breakfast!  In the afternoon we went to visit Diane (who recently had an op), Mark and Jack.

Thursday - another early start with us heading to Dizzy Rascals to meet up with Maria, Davie, Daniel & Josh and Leanne, Craig, Jessica & Sophie.  It was very noisy!  We came home and the kids and I went to Melanie's house to see their new 8 week old puppy Charlie.  He's gorgeous!  Then I went shopping for food for Krystal's party tomorrow!

Check back as I will add photos!

Daffs Castle1.jpg

Today was a nice day so we went to Drum Castle for the first time this year.  We really like it there in springtime as there are daffodils everywhere.  Mummy loves to take photos of them.

Holiday So Far

Sunset Harbour.jpgSo it's the Easter holidays and they're really flying past in a flurry.  On Sunday (Mothers Day) we went out after dinner to see the dolphins in the harbour.  As the kids normally go to bed after dinner, this was a huge treat to stay up until 9pm!  This sunset was taken then (you didn't think I actually captured a leaping dolphin did you?!)

On Monday, I took the kids to a cafe they'd been asking about for ages for a cookie.  Simple things eh?!

Kory on Farm.jpgTuesday was a more interesting day, our Sky box broke so the morning was spent on the phone trying to get that fixed, then at lunchtime we went to the cinema to see "Hop" which was actually a lot better than I expected it to be.  This trip was followed quickly by the usual boxing class and 2 exhausted kids!

Wednesday was a bit of a write off.  James had a doctors appointment for minor surgery, so was working from home, and I had the dentist as I'd broken a tooth.  Kory was refusing to get dressed so he could "rest" as he's so busy all the other times with school.

Feeding Rasta Sheep.jpgToday I decided we were not sitting about again, so early up and out to Doonies Farm, the rarebreeds farm near our house.  We spent a couple of hours feeding the animals, cooing over the lambs which were less than a week old, the calf, the foal and goats.

Krystal Tractor.jpgThen it was time to play in the park.  By which time I was frozen!  I had packed a lunch, but on discussion with Kory, we decided that it was actually just too windy and cold so headed home for a picnic lunch in the living room.

Buckets for Sheep.jpg

Horsey.jpgI got a message then asking if I was heading to Brewsters like a normal Thursday, which I hadn't been planning on, but decided to just do it.  Kory hasn't been there for a long time, and really enjoyed it.  One of the big sisters of the usual crowd is in his class at school so they had a great time playing.

Needless to say, I had two very very tired children by bedtime tonight!

Cove Outing

Top of World.jpg

Today Krystal and I went on a wee adventure.  It was freezing, but no actual frost, snow or rain - well not to start with anyway.  We headed along the coastal road and parked up and walked under the railway bridge and down to the coastal path at a bit I've never been before.

In Ruin.jpgWaving.jpg

Sitting on Barrel.jpgThere was an old ruin, a compass bollard and loads of beautiful caves and alcoves where the waves were crashing.

Clouds.jpg

Walkers1.jpgThe clouds started to look a bit ominous - so I decided it was time we headed back to the car, these people clearly had the same idea.

More crying.jpgOnly their legs were longer than wee Krystal's and I reckon they made it.  We didn't, Krystal got upset I was going too fast and got hysterical and wouldn't walk.  So I just sat down on a rock and took some photos (as you do) as it was actually quite cute!

Crying.jpg

The rain had gone off by the time we got back to the car but I'd had enough by then!

Boxing Practise.jpgWe picked Kory up from school and they did some boxing practise together!
