My Blog!

It's been brought to my attention recently (and in the past) that there are some people reading this blog and judging me on things I say here, particularly boasting about the kids.  If you are one of those people, please remember that this is MY blog, therefore MY space to say what I like here.

This is a place primarily for family members who do not live locally to keep up with the kids, what they are doing, how they are developing and to see photos of them.  As I've done it for so long, it's become a bit of a place for me to keep track of timelines of events of their lives too.   Yes it's rose tinted, mostly only the good bits, but isn't that what family want to read?!  Don't you all report to your parents the new things your kids do?  This is one way of me doing the same.

I've often contemplated stopping doing the blog.  I've also requested on many ocassions that James help me put password protection on it.  Not to keep unwanted strangers off here (because I never post photos of any dodgy nature, or say anything I don't want people to know) but to stop people I do know from knowing our business.

Ultimately, if you don't like what I say, or how I go about saying it, then don't visit here.  But if you do choose to do so, then don't use it as something to hold against me.  It's my space to say what I like.

Our Week from Hell

To say the past 7-10 days has been diffcult is an understatement.  First of all last Tuesday our car (yep, the one we just got back) decided it was going to die/overheat.  After speaking to dad and having a mechanic friend look over it, we decided it would do more harm than good to be driving it.  That evening we heard about James' Uncle Fred dying.  On the Wednesday I had to go about hiring a car as we had to go to Lisa's wedding in Glasgow.

The drive down was awful as I mentioned in the other post & I really wasn't very well.  So we get back up, the Monday was fairly normal, then the Tuesday Kory started nursery.  In the afternoon we had to brave driving the car down to trade it in!!  On Wednesday James left for work as normal and was heading to London straight from work.  During the day, the electricity started going wonky and I discovered it was the tumble drier short circuiting the whole house.  ARGH!!  Just what I need coming into winter and on day 1 of being a single parent for 3 days!!

That evening Krystal was nappy free and got a sore tummy and "went" all over the cream hall carpet!  The phone was ringing, the door was going, both kids were crying & it was way past their bedtime.  Chaos!

Laura and Gary arrived on Friday night about 30 mins before James got home then they headed into town.  Then on Saturday morning we went to collect our new car (a silver Astra).  When we got home we realised that we had no phone connection and therefore no internet.  Everything keeps going wrong!!

Then we had a wedding dance at night.  It was Suzanne & Scott who I know through baby group. I'm pleased to say it went well and I'll do another post about the weekend with Laura & Gary and the wedding.

Somewhere in all that I had a sore leg, by sore I mean a HUGE lump which I am pretty sure is/was an infected hair follicle thing.  It was agony for a few days and making me feel a bit rough.

Hopefully this week will be better.  We won't be stuck in the house as we have a car now and I'm going to try and spend some time with Krystal while Kory is in nursery, doing things I feel she's missed out on a bit.  So tomorrow morning, Rambo's here we come!

No Blogs

The title is self explanatory really.  There won't be blogs for a while.  Since I got my new laptop (with Vista...need I say more!) I've had problems with the blog.  It's working fine for James on his laptop using his browser, but for some reason I can't upload photos using Internet Explorer.  I can upload using Firefox, but can't do anything else in Firefox as it deletes the photos which is bizarre.  As he can use it, likliehood is that it's not the actual blog.

The last few blogs have been a real lot of messing about.  I've either sent photos to James who has uploaded them and then I go in and edit it or I've uploaded in firefox and then saved and switched to Internet Explorer to edit and move them about.

So basically there is a problem and we can't seem to fix it.  The blogs take long enough without having to mess about between browsers and sending photos over the network.  I'm fed up spending a whole evening trying to do it.  So until this gets fixed, we'll be out of circulation.  Any suggestions anyone has are more than welcome!

The Letter G

Remember this post about lost things?  Well, today one of the things that bugged me so much turned up!!  The Letter G from Kory's Fridge Phonics!!  We keep all the magnetic letters on our radiator in the kitchen (our fridge isn't magnetic) and today we had Matthew over and he was chucking them down the back of the heater.

So tonight after dinner I was tidying up and trying to retrieve them, I had to use a wooden spoon dropping it down the back hoping to dislodge the 5 letters there.  The spoon only got stuck didn't it.  So down on my back on the floor peering underneath to get it, I find the letter G on the underside of the heater, which might sound like I should have seen it before, but it's indented so when I looked I didn't see it!

I'm so happy!  Thanks Matthew for making a mess, haha!!

Only Monsters Inc DVD and a brown tombliboo to go......

I Hate Cars!

Cars Cars Cars - nothing but a total pain in the bum.  I'm not sure I've posted on here about our car drama, but on 16th April someone reversed into the drivers door of our car.  We got a hire car the very same day which is fab (a VW Jetta)  So now, 2 months to the day further on and we're still driving the hire car, and the garage have no idea if (when??) they will get a part for it.  As it's an MG the parts are hard to come by.

So this weekend our hire car rear tyre pops, not just a wee puncture, oh no, a big huge hole in it.  So today I have to tae it down to Kwik Fit and get the wheel assessed to see if we are liable to pay for a new tyre or not.  We only just put 3 tyres on the other car before it was bumped so really don't want to be shelling out for one now.

I'm starting to think we'll not see our MG again, it's been so long, and no sign of anything yet.  If they right it off, we'll get hardly anything back for it, certainly not enough to buy another 5 door hatchback with a 1.8 engine (ie an equivalent car) which is so annoying.  So coz some stupid prat decided not to look in his rear view mirror, we're going to have to end up out of pocket.

I understand you only get market value for your car, but I think the system is totally crap, I mean what use is a poxy little P plate Micra when you have 2 kids.  Hardly like for like now is it.

Rant over.  Off to drag 2 kids to Kwikk Fit to be entertained for the afternoon.

Where Do Lost Things Go?

This is one of those questions that I suppose is probably best saved for a drunken night, but it's something that has got to me for a while now (just ask James!)

Essentially - where do lost things go...they must be somewhere, and if they are somewhere, then they are not lost, right?  WRONG.  If I can't find them, then they are lost.  Do they all go to some secret location where they can see us frantically looking for them;some zone with wallets, keys, mobile phones, Monsters Inc DVD's and the letter G, all watching, smiling, laughing while I go mad trying to find them.

Take the DVD as an example.  I don't take DVD's out the house, not even out of the living room, so where on earth is it?

I think the thing that makes lost things worse in our house is that I don't deal with it well as I just can't comprehend it.  I freak out, become a wild woman until it's found.  If it's not I huff for days about where it can possibly be.

My latest is writing a list of lost things on the kitchen notice board, what irritates me more than lost things is not being able to remember what is lost.

Maybe I need to get out more.

Dodgy Dinner

Dodgy Dinner.JPG

So this is my dinner tonight...stick with this and you'll see why a photo of my dinner is here!  Often on a Friday we get something yummy instead of home cooking.  Recently it's been Asda pizza's, but tonight we were nearer Sainsbury's.  We discovered they didn't do "build your own" pizza, so opted for nice ready meals.  I got Butternut Squash and Goats Cheese Lasagne.

We got home, I cooked it as per instructions and put it out.  I say 'put it out' because 'serving it' would be too polite for the slop that came out.  It was like soup with lumps.  The "layers of fresh pasta" as described on the box, was one sheet of pasta.  It was no more like lasagne than flying in the air!  It tasted dreadful too, I could have overlooked this if it even resembled what was on the box.  I know the photo's never look like the food, but this was taking the mickey!

Needless to say a prompt email was sent to Sainsbury's.  They had better have a decent response!

P.S.  Please keep an eye on the Recent Entries bit on the right, as I've missed out a few things from during the week and i will add them, but the date will be the date they happened on, so will appear further down!
