Water Reflection.jpgToday, after Kory went to Jamie's football birthday party, we decided to head out to Balmedie beach park seeing as the sun was out.  It wasn't particularly warm, but the kids had a great time paddling about in the water, jumping the waves, running down the sand dunes and generally having a great time in the park.  James even drew a giant teddy in the sand!

There's lots of photos which don't need explanation, so I'll let them talk for themselves.

DSC_0332.jpgLast proper day of the summer holidays and a trip to Charleton Fruit Farm was in order.  We went with Maria, Davie, Daniel, Josh, Leanne, Craig, Jessica and Sophie.  James was at work.

DSC_0344.jpgWe played in the huge play area for a couple of hours, had some lunch and then headed out to the fields to pick raspberries.  I think more were eaten than put in the baskets, but isn't that the point?

DSC_0322.jpgBy the time we had finished, I realised I'd lost my house keys.  It was decided to go out for something to eat together so I headed into town to collect James and to allow me into the house. We did a quick change and headed to Brewsters.

The kids had a great time having dinner with friends and I got a few drinks in!  All in all it was a lovely day out.   Some extra photos below....

This weekend we had Coral, Chad and Jasmine here to stay with us.  The weather wasn't overly kind and Jasmine had a broken arm so we were completely limited in what we could do.  So we went down to the beach park, on the big wheel, ate ice cream on the beach and the out for some food (Fajitas - Krystal is having an obsession with them just now!)  and out for brekkie on Sunday morning too.  Here's the photos....

Take That

Went with Diane to Take That at Hampden.  We went via Ikea for a few small bits n bobs then over to check in at the hotel.  When we arrived at Hampden, we managed to get a great standing position at the front.  Although I got some decent photos, I'll never stand at it again.  It was just too much.

The photos can do the talking though!

Kory Sports Day

Unlike Krystal's one earlier in the week, for Kory's sports day brought sun and heat!   The kids were split into teams and worked their way around about 10 different events at 5 minutes each.  There was basketball, hockey, hurdles, welly throwing, shot putt amongst other things.  They all did really well, but as with everything on sports day now - there is no winner and no loser.

Summer?

Biker Boy.jpgWe've had a few nice days recently which is a nice ending to the school holidays.  Today we spent the day with all Kory's friends at Dizzy Rascals in the morning then the park in the afternoon.  They are really shattered tonight, Kory has been using any excuse to go on his bike now he can go it.

Kory Garden1.jpgOver the weekend, James took the kids to a forest while I did ironing (what a rock 'n' roll life I lead eh?!)  and we pottered in the garden, went round the block several times and went to B&Q to get paint to do the skirting board we fitted (finally!) where the fireplace used to be.

Dinner Outside.jpgWe managed to eat dinner outside one night too.  It's been a sunny happy weekend!  I've discovered Krystal *loves* to pose for my new camera too!

Radio Visit

In Aberdeen, there are 2 local radio stations, the one we listen to is Original FM. No real reason other than I like the DJ's better, and think the music selection is more varied/less repetitive. In the daytime when we're in the house, I often have the radio on while playing with the kids, so they know all their names. For ages Kory has been asking questions about how radio works, if its real people talking and when a certain newsreader comes on he jumps around saying "It's Jenny!"

DSC068351.jpgSo a while ago I contacted Martin Ingram (who I speak to on Twitter) & arranged for us to go in for a visit when he was on air. Kory has been asking constantly since then and today was the day. He got to see the studio, had a tour, saw the equipment, meet Jenny and then even got to press some buttons to make an advert and a song go on, got a mention and to say hi on air. But most of all now he gets what radio is and how it gets to our living room!

You can listen to the bit of the show he was on here too.

To say he enjoyed himself is an understatement. He's been as high as a kite all day today. Big thanks to Original FM staff for being lovely while we were in, but most of all to Martin for having us in.

Balmedie.jpg

Dan Soph Kory Ahoy.jpgToday we went on a trip to Balmedie Beach with Maria, Davie, Daniel, Josh & Leanne, Jessica & Sophie.  We spent a couple of hours at the park and had a picnic lunch there, then headed down to the beach and sand dunes.  They all had fun playing in a huge hole, then progressed to paddling - getting soaked!!  But we all had a brilliant day out and the rain even held off for us!

Of course it was the perfect chance to play with my camera on 6 moving targets!  So some snapshots and some more arty and experimental!

And lastly is Jessica after throwing herself in the sear wasdripping from head to toe. Completely unfazed, she proceeded to jump into the big sand pit they were playing in making for a very wet soggy mess! To her credit though, she wasn't bothered.  I know if Kory or Krystal did this they'd be whinging they are cold etc.

Brilliant day out.  Exhausted kids!

Kory has finally managed to go his bike by himself.  It's taken a lot of sweat (James) and tears (Kory) but today was the day he cracked it.  Well done Kory, now you can go out with your friends and write your list to Santa.

Kids Beach1.jpgWe seem to be doing a round of parks and stuff this week.  On Saturday James took the kids to Balmedie Beach while I got caught up with some ironing - lucky me, I live the high life!  But in fairness I'm not mad on beaches so wasn't overly disappointed not to be going!  But it looks like fun was had writing names in sand and playing in the spaceship park.

Krystal Name Sand.jpgKory name sand.jpg

Rocket Kids.jpgOn Sunday we took the monkey's to the cinema to see Toy Story 3.  £31 it cost, £31!!!  Now I remember why we usually go on a Sunday morning for £1 each.  That's a lot to all watch a film.  And we took our own food so that didn't include that.  It poured all day so it was a good plan despite it costing a fortune!

Twitter 4.jpgI had a hair appointment on Saturday afternoon, got about 3 inches cut off, but as usual after a holiday it's gone so blonde that the condition of it is really bad, so she wouldn't cut it into a bob that I wanted as it wouldn't sit right.  So here is the result (kind of)

Jess Soph Kory.jpgOn Monday morning we had a guy round to fix Krystal's bedroom window and then we headed to Westburn Park with Leanne, Jessica & Sophie.  They played, we watched.  Going to the park is much easier nowadays without having to do the chasing!

Kory Twirly.jpgKrystal Twirly.jpg

Krystal naked.jpgTuesday was an early morning too, I got my jab and then we heaed straight to Dizzy Rascals.  It was heaving, busier than I've seen it in ages! But the kids had fun.  By the time we left it had turned into a nice day, we were all sweating in the car, so we got changed before heading to Kory's boxing.  Only we got halfway and the heavens opened, argh!

Jamie Kory Bus.jpgToday (Wednesday) again was an early morning.  We spent the day with Andrea, Jamie & Charlie.  As Andrea doesn't drive, I decided to join them on the bus which is always an adventure for Kory & Krystal.

Leah Jamie Kory.jpgWe went to Duthie park and spent hours playing in the back park.  We didn't even make it to the bottom one and by then it was 1.30pm.  We walked round the winter gardens (which are lovely in summer - irony?) and then got back on a bus to Burger King.  The kids ate food and then played in the play frame thingy.

Krystal Chute5.jpgKory3.jpg

By the time we got home at 4:30pm they were totally exhausted and just sat like zombies in front of the TV ha ha.  Loving the holidays!
