Been a bit on a non eventful week here ar chez Buckingham. Monday I got caught up on some chores, Tuesday was Kory's nursery sports day and boxing class, Wednesday afternoon was our town day to get a friends 30th birthday pressie (you know who you are, I won't name & shame!), Thursday we went to the big Tesco and then I had the doctors (injections brought forward again and on another 2 different pills - yes I now rattle!) Friday we went to Leanne's house for the last time before she moves house, and today was Cove gala day. Nothing much to report on any of it and no photos to show for it either. Can you tell I'm feeling pretty rubbish just now?!
So back to the sports day on Tuesday morning seeing as it was the highlight of the week! It wasn't the normal kind of sports day I remember from school, but a Mini Highland Games. The kids were divided into teams a few weeks ago (Kory was in White Team) and all the events were team ones.
There was "Stir the Porridge" - run to porridge, mix it up and run back...
Then a twist on the egg and spoon race with "Tattie on a Spoon" - keep tattie on spoon, run to end and back (Kory wasn't in much of a hurry as you can see!) ...
Next was "Bruce's Spider" - run, go through tunnel collecting a spider, run to web, place spider on web and run back...
They moved on to "Scotch Broth" - run, choose a vegetable, run to pot, put in vegetable and run back...
My favourite was "Throw the Haggis" - run, pick up a haggis and get it in the net then run back...
And lastly was "Toss the Wellies" - run to wellie pile, choose one and throw it from where you were and see if you could get it into the big tub then run back (a bit of "helping" going on by the tub holder methinks!!)...
At the end was the awards where they all got a medal for taking part. No winners and losers nowadays. Not sure that teaches them anything about life and the need to try hard to get ahead. But don't get me started on that!
As the weather had held out, they let each age group do a quick flat race, here's Kory's...
And lastly....the dad's race. Now this *was* competitive, loads of them got up for it, including James...
Krystal enjoyed herself too, but was a bit bored and huffy by the end.
